The Inevitable First Post

Welcome to my new blog. I will be spending the next couple of weeks tweaking and adjusting the layout so bear with me. I will, however, put most of my effort into the actual content; I know from previous experience that I can 'waste' hours on looks and hardly write anything. I have recently started journaling a lot again and blogging will be a part of that.  I'll be trying different writing techniques, including some stream of consciousness, and I have big plans and some great ideas for posts including Throwback Thursdays and a weekly gathering of my favourite Facebook 'likes'.

As you may be able to tell from the title, I am a worn and somewhat battered survivor of life. Suffice it to say mine has not been an easy journey.  Having just passed my 30th birthday, I am looking forward to this new online space where I can foster my wisdom and share with the 'verse.

I am fairly recently single and learning (sometimes grudgingly) for the first time in my life to enjoy being on my own, and that I don't need to be inextricably entwined with another being to feel complete. Well, except perhaps with my dog, but that is a whole other story which I'm sure I'll get to in good time.

I am branching out online to meet new great people (strictly for friends) and this project has found me on POF and Chive dating, under an inspirational and very browncoat handle. If you are unaware of what a browncoat is, you need to google it right now and then watch the show, followed by the movie, preferably back to back. (You're welcome for changing you life). If you stumble across this in your wanderings online, find yourself in the Ottawa, Ontario area (and think I'd make a cool friend) or live across the globe (and think I'd make a stimulating pen pal), feel free to contact me. If you do however, send me more than a two liner.  Something thoughtful and engaging will be much preferred.

I am currently renting a room from my wonderfully supportive artist parents (you can find them in my blogroll, of course) and using this time to heal, grow, learn and of course, to save money for the future. I am well aware of the stigma surrounding living with your parents, but I believe that there are times in your life when there is no shame in falling back on family.  That's what they are there for: Unconditional love and support, especially when you are having a hard time loving yourself.
